How to Peel Hard-Boiled Eggs Easily – A Simple Chef’s Trick

Hard boiled eggs cut in half on a white plate.

Place the eggs in cold water and bring to a boil.

Once the water begins to boil, cook for 9–10 minutes.

Immediately after cooking, place the eggs in a bowl of ice water for at least 10 minutes.

Once cooled, lightly tap the shell on each side and roll the egg under your hand – the shell will almost come off on its own!

💡 Chef’s trick:
Add a teaspoon of baking soda to the water before cooking – this changes the pH of the shell, making the eggs peel in a snap!
